hi stu
upgrading your memory is probally the easiest upgrade you can perform and depending on the type of memory you need it can also be the cheapest
however from what i can see you will be needing ddr2 ram and thats the cheapest at this present time, but still go to http://www.crucial.com/ and run the on the internet memory scan, this will evaluate your p.c and report the ideal memory for your specific pc,and if you want you can purchase directly from crucial however there are cheaper online retailers so also check them out
once you’ve found the memory you need and have all the hardware you need(memory, screwdriver)then earth yourself by touching a radiator and then open your p.c
now locate your memory, this picture may help(http://media.hardwareanalysis.com/articl… and if needed remove any memory that’ll be redundant
then take your new memory and making sure the clips at either end are fully open insert your new memory pressing either end until the two white clips lock shut ,your memory is now installed, then do the same to any more
then double check they are correctly fitted and replace the side panel/case cover
note: if you have different capacity memory(512mb/1gb) then allways insert the higher capacity memory in “dimm 1″ and then the next in dimm 2 and so on,so for example if you’ve 2 x 1gb modules and 1 x 512mb module, then insert the 2 1gb modules in dimms 1 and 2 and then the 512mb in dimm 3
once you’ve replaced the cover or side panel power up your p.c and if you see any upgrade prompts then press the appropriate key
once your pc has booted and windows has loaded then right click “computer” and choose properties and then check your memory is recognized
if there are any problems such as memory not being recognized open the case and change the modules around and try again, and if problems re-occur try with one module removed until you discover the problem memory
and thats it,its pretty straight forward and you should experience no problems however if you do contact me and i shall see what i can do
good luck stu !

The screen doesn't tell us:
1. How many ram slots your pc has.
2. How many slots are currently being occupied.
TYPICALLY most motherboards will have 4 slots, and will come with a pair of memory sticks, occupying 2 of the slots, leaving 2 open for another pair of sticks. With most modern processors/motherboads you want to keep RAM matched in pairs so the CPU can use them as a single 64 bit wide data path.
If you go to www.crucial.com they have a program that’ll scan your system, determine what the memory configuration is, and suggest the proper RAM for an upgrade.
I would go to 4GB of RAM, because if you add 1 GB to take it up to 3 GB, the only way you have in the future of going beyond the 3GB would be to throw away the pair of 512MB sticks (that would give you the 1 additional GB of ram, totaling 3GB) that you buy, and memory is dirt-cheap at the moment.
Answer:
Ok it depends on the amount of ram slots you have, Most computers now a days have 4 slots, allowing for upto 8GB of ram. Unfortunatly unless you’ve a copy of windows vista 64bit you wont be able to go above 3.3GB RAM, if you do have vista 64 then it will run what the motherboard max is (normally 8GB)
I would advise if 4 slots to go for 2 more sticks of 1GB ram at the speed that the others run at (677, 800, 1066GHZ) although if you’ve 2 slots you can get 2×2GB ram sticks. If you dont want to order off internet the PC World has a good selection, if you do want to order off net the go to www.ebuyer.co.uk, then go components then to desktop Memory, you can pick exactly what speed and Size ram you would like and they’ll show you what the offers and makes are for them. They are well priced. GL

type crucial in url then open click on crucial technoliges and scan your comp it tells you everything how many ports what ram and how much even the price of new chips but i think in your case you’ll find that you may only have 2 ports and cannot upgrade higer hope this helps you out
Answer:
As others have recommended - Crucial. I always use their memory and have installed it in a number of Personal computers and Macs. Yours will take 2×2GB sticks.

Answer:
any of you guys above with enough knwoledge should have noticed.. Its an AMD turion Mobile.. that makes it a Laptop not a computer/PC
However in this case its a Touchsmart HP IQ771UK
The specification states it has installed 2GB of ram
However you can upgarde it to a maximum of 4GB (2Gb per slot)
> Memory
Memory Installed 2 GB
Maximum allowed 4.0 GB* (2 X 2 GB)
*Actual available memory might be less
Speed supported PC2-4200 or PC2-5300
Type 240 pin, DDR2 SDRAM
So all you need to do first is turn your pc/laptop/touchsmart upside down get a crosshead screw driver and unscrew the little cover with the picture of a chip
If you find the right one then you should see this small rectangle bar with smaller black rectangles on it.
>Now you either read what that one is and find the same, or
Search for
>PC2-4200 or PC2-5300 >>> SO-DIMM << or Laptop Memory
Try this place
