When I try to reformat my 2nd hard drive. I type 'Format f:' into the run window and up pops a DOS window saying 'Enter current volume label for drive F:

I'm lost. What does that mean. I'm running windows XP and formatting is NTFS. Thanks

Answer:
The volume label is simoly a name given to the drive.

The volume label of a drive can be found by typing in either the DIR or VOL command

or

# Double click on the My Computer icon on your Desktop until it opens.

# Then gently click on the drive you want to name just enough until it becomes highlighted.

# Then click on the word File, which is contained in your top tool bar area.

# This will pull down a menu for you to now click on Properties.

#You will see a Label box which contains the name you need
