i am no expert on pc's.just recently my pc has decided to take ages to load up when i turn it on, and it also takes quite a while to load up onto the internet.iv had no problems in the past,my pc is fairly new,is normally super fast and i have got my pc protected.

can anyone advise???

Answer:
1) do you have anti-virus software if so run it and let it go all the way before doing any thing on personal.

2) next run clean disk .you should be able to find it here (start ,all programs, accessories , system tools ,clean disk )

3) next run disk defragmenter it is in same place .

but be ready to let your personal run this stuff for a long time frame 1 to 4 hours

4) open your internet browser at the top of the screen there should be a tab or button that states tools ,click it and then go down until you get to internet options and click it then look at screen where you browser history click the delete button ,there should be another screen come up make should to delete the cookies and temporary internet files and history

5) after you have tried these items restart your personal

if you are still having problem then i would say it is time to begin checking hardware parts

Answer:
you state that you are protected well then maybe your anti virus / antispyware program(s) are doing a small check of system files as your Computer starts up and when you open up a browser whist its checking these files it can slow down your Computer considerably go into the settings and see if you can turn off the automatic checks and do your checks for viruses and spyware manually instead at a time where you are away from the pc or not doing any work on it. - but don't turn of the automatic scan and forget to manually scan the pc because this can cause further problems with malware building up.

Answer:
- try startup delayer, for more details read this article: http://cybernetnews.com/2007/12/04/cyber…

- clean your pc using disk cleanup or ashampoo's winoptimizer; then defrag using windows defragmenter or diskeeper; then try using tunexp (it will reorganize your boot processses, after it defrags, restart - available at: http://www.download.com/TuneXP/3000-2086…

- in my pc, i am using windows xp, i purchased a fast usb 8gb thumbdrive, hook it up, then installed eboostr (free for 4 hours). i purchased a copy, bec it actually is faster than my basic 2gb ram. but out of 8gb, eboostr just uses 4gb.

- install startup control panel (free) from http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml. you can configure what program/s to begin upon bootup.

- try xplite (shareware; http://www.litepc.com/xplite.html), to delete xp component that you don't need.

- clean your pc with a good Antivirus, and use at least 4 antispywares. i use pandasecurity's activescan, which is an on the internet Antivirus as a backup to my trend micro; then for the antispyware, i use the old yahoo antispyware (the new one is not as good, bec you can’t do a thorough scan). i also use spywareblaster, spybot-search and destroy, spywareguard - all 4 are free, but i don't think that yahoo is offering it's old antispyware anymore. virus and spywares can slow down and hang your pc. so cleaning it regularly is advisable.

- have more ram about 2 to 4gb

- upgrade to a faster processor

I’ve the same problem to,…as i do have allot of Software on a small hardrive(120gb) so i will interested in what answers you get. ;)

Apart from the usually advice,..ie:Defraging,clearing Cache,..etc etc,..which i do all the time.

I have an External(320gb) so that takes some of the presser of my main system,..but it's still not perfect.

I'm getting a new one soon,..so i'm not to bothered about it.

But it would be good to speed this one up in the mean time.! ;)

Answer:
First try this:

Click start - run - and type:

msconfig

and press enter. Then go to Startup tab and uncheck the entries that you dont need. This will give a good boost for your startup. And for general performance:

Download HijackThis (Smaller than 500 kb):

http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/…

Run HijackThis.

Click on Do a system scan and save a logfile.

Save the log to wherever you want. And send back it to here. I will analyze it for you and then we will see what we can do for it.

Answer:
You can stop your Personal computer taking longer to boot up by stoping programs coming on when Windows starts up - you can do this by using msconfig to halt programs from starting.

Start>Run>type in 'msconfig'. Then uncheck all the programs you do not need to start
