I am soon to buy a Dell XPS 420, and would like to know whether it is worth spending a little extra money upgrading the personal memory and hard drive while the special offer still lasts.

The current base package has 3072MB of memory and a 750GB hard drive.

If i spend £40 (roughly $75 for anyone in the U.S) i can upgrade the memory to 4098MB and upgrade the hard drive to a huge 1TB.

Is it worth spending the money on the upgrades, or am i better off saving it for another day?

Answer:
Hello, well you have not stated wich Vista you’re running.

Vista 32 bit only reconises 3.25 gig RAM so no point in upgrading.

Vista 64 bit reconises more, however with over 3 gig installed now adding another gig or two will make no diffrences.

Save the money you dont need more RAM.

No need to upgrade the main hard drive just add the 1TB as a slave drive for storage.

To be honest unless you are a downloaded of great amounts then no you don’t need the 1TB HDD.

If you're gaming then you'll want to, but if not it isn't worth it.
