I was looking for someone who knows a good deal about computers to do me a large favour and help me find:

Good graphics card

Good memory

Good processor (I was told I would probably need this due to the new card and memory).

Currently, I have:

1GB DDR2 RAM

256Mb 7300LE Nvidia Gfx Card

Intel Pentium 2.8GHz Processor

I was told to check out www.eBuyer.com for components, but all the letters and numbers just confuse me!

I was hoping to spend more or less 200 quid. This is really so my PC can cope for the next year or so with games. I purchased Age of Conan and my PC is unable to handle it, hence this upgrade.

Thank you SO much in advance!

hi alexis

to start with you’ve made a good decision in deciding to upgrade your p.c,with todays software and games you can never have enough memory and for the latest games you need a decent graphics card

anyway lets get started:

graphics card..from your current card i can see you use the pci-express interface and a there are loads of new pci-express based cards avalible

the XFX GeForce 9600GT 'XXX AlphaDog Edition' 512MB PCI-E (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Component… a excellent card and extremely powerful

it has a 740mhz core clock and 512mb of ddr3 memory running at 2000mhz,along with the 256bit memory bus and support for direct x 10 this is a very fast card and a excellent choice

the next card i shall recommend is the Sapphire HD 4850 512MB PCI-E2.0(http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Component… is another very fast card and when you see the specs you’ll see why

its got a 625mhz core clock and 512mb of gddr3 memory running at 1986mhz,these are extremely good specs and with a 256bit bus and support for pci-express 2.0 this is another card worth considering

now for the memory : ddr2 memory is very cheap at the moment so i wont beat around the bush,i have found two excellent products at a extraordinary price

1) Arianet 2GB PC2-6400 CL5 (2×1GB) (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Component… of memory for Ā£20..what a bargain..this is a breathtaking deal and these modules are very good

2)2Gb Kingston HyperX PC6400 Low latency Kit (2 x 1GB)(http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Component… more expensive than the arianet memory but much much superior, this is a best buy for extreme gaming

3)and check these out :Arianet 1GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM (http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Othe… only Ā£5 for a 1gb module,thats just over Ā£20 for 4gb..worth considering !

and finally a processor, your current processor looks care about it uses either the socket 478 motherboard or the socket lga775,so here is a suggestion for each type of socket

1)socket 478 : Intel PentiumĀ® 4 3.2GHz Prescott (800MHz) (http://www.pcupgrade.co.uk/productdetail… a bit high-priced but all decent socket 478 pentium 4 processors are,if you can afford it go for the 3.6ghz processors(http://www.pcupgrade.co.uk/category.asp?…

2)socket lga775 : Intel Pentium Dual Core E2200 2.2GHz (Retail 775) ..go the dual core way,and for less than £50 this is a bargain, this is vastly superior to your current processor and along with the added memory and graphics card will change your pc beyond imagination

i have tried to keep the cost low and have taken into consideration the games you have purchased and if you take my advice you’ll be able to play these game with ease

i hope i have helped however any problems or advice just let me know

good luck alexis !

Answer:
Increasing the RAM will do wonders, the intel pentium is still fairly current & should still keep soldiering on for the next year. You didn't state if your motherboard was AGP or PCIe capable. If it's AGP then the ideal card you could probably get is the NVIDIA GeForce 7600GT with 512mb of DDR or DDR2 RAM. If your motherboard has a PCIe slot then you can go a lot further with the graphics card without any problems I would advocate at least a GeForce 8800 with 512mb or 1Gb of Ram or a 9600 if your budget can stretch that far!

Answer:
The most obvious thing is to upgrade your RAM.

However you must make sure that it is compatible with your Personal computer or you make an high-priced mistake.

Have a look here….

http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/config/m…

and enter your Computer details.

It will tell you exactly what you need.

As with your RAM, any upgrade of processor depends on your Motherboard“s capabilities.

You need to go to your Motherboard manufacturers website and see what processors it can handle.

Graphics cards…. no help…. donĀ“t play games….. well…. Cricket on a Sunday, of course.

Answer:
i dont think you will be able to get a new cpu without a new motherboard to mach, i may be wrong, depends on the board.

but go for another gig of ram

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/129209

and a new graphics card

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134944

and that’ll run the game very nice ;)

Answer:
Go to your local secondhand computer shop.

Answer:
Increase the RAM to 2GB the rest seems OK

Answer:
Up grade your RAM…..the rest looks o.k…..good luck

Answer:
If you use these upgrades your Personal computer will be up-to-date for the next two or three years as a gamer. The graphics card is already intensely OC'd, so don't overclock that, but search for beginner's overclocking guides and enhance the CPU and RAM to be up-to-date for the next four to five years.
