hi albert

a contiguous file in laymans terms are files that appear to be or are, adjacent, or connected to, one another.

explained in simple terms this means when you degrag your hard drive the files are re-arranged into a order that’s easier to operate, and files can be found quicker

fragmentation occurs because when you install a program for example windows wont put the data in pre-assigned areas but instead anywhere on the disk, and after a while this causes fragmentation, which in itself isnt bad but it does affect the speed at which the data can be accesed

this is why a defragment of your hard drive can temporarily increase your p.c,s speed, especially during start up

any problems let me know

good luck albert !

Answer:
When you defrag your hard drive, files are designated as “Fragmented” or “Contiguous”. Fragmented means that the pieces of the file are spread arounfd the hard drive, Contiguous means that the whole file has been pieced together.

Answer:
Effectively, the opposite of a fragmented file. All the “pieces” of the file are next to each other so it is a contiguous file.

Answer:
Thats a file thats all in one piece in one place–what the fragmented files end up being after the defrag.
