ok i just built a new computer and its working and am now getting the splash screen. Ok i went into Bios and set the boot drive as CD drive. But when it loads up it states

“Boot drive fails, insert CD and press enter”

despite have an OS CD(Vista) in it doesn't read. What am i doing wrong??? please help

make sure optical drive is conected properly internally and and that the bios recognises it, make sure the Vista media is clean and that the laser on the drive is clean (even if brand new)

rather than setting boot up as CD first (reset that) press F12 at boot up and choose to boot from CD (my friends personal needed that)

if the media still fails to load i'd state you have a faulty optical drive

what do you mean by splash screen is it a blue screen if so you should have a file name near the bottom could you include that in any further info
