What do the leads plug into.?
Cheers!
Answer:
Your CD/DVD combo drive is connected to the mother board via a SATA or PATA transfer cable, both of these are IDE devices, one being Serial, one being Parallel. Most CD/DVD combo drives are PATA (parallel one), this is a wide grey cable with 40 pins on it, the cable is about 2 inches wide or so and very thin. If it is SATA then the cable is usually red in colour, much narrower in width, about half an inch or so and the same thickness. Also, there is a power cable plugged into the CD/DVD combo drive that goes to the Power Supply unit in your system box. So in essence there are two cables…one for data transfer, and one for power

hi mate
in older computers the dvd/cd drive is connected via a ide cable to the ide2 socket on the motherboard, and in the case of running a second dvd/cd drive you need to set your main dvdrw drives jumper setting to “master” and you auxillary dvd/cd-rom drive used for duplicating to “slave”
however newer p.c,s are now using sata(serial Advanced Technology Attachment) and these are connected to your motherboard using the smaller sata leads
however unlike ide connectors sata use channels instead of jumper settings,so you simply plug the sata lead into a spare sata plug on your motherboard and the sata dvd/cd drive will assign itself a channel
you will also need to enter the setup(bios) and go to “intergrated peripherals” to configure your sata settings
when using both sata hard drives and optical drives you need to set your sata mode to ide and “onchip serial ata” setting to “enhanced”,then remember to save and exit set up on the main bios screen to save the changes you’ve made to the cmos…after concurring to the changes the pc will restart
for you reference here are pictures of the different types of connectors

i hope this helps however any problems let me know
good luck mate !
Answer:
CD-DVD drives would be connected directly to the motherboard by either a SATA or IDE cable for transfering the data. You also would get either a 4 pin molex power connector or a sata power connector to power the drive. The power cables come direct from a power supply
Answer:
The motherboard and possibly the sound card.
