My personal has 2x 512 memory to make it 2mega could i put another 512 memory stick in to make it larger?

you’ve 2X512 MB RAM
to make it 2GB you should remove these two 512MB sticks and buy two 1GB
RAM sticks and place them in alternate slots.
Answer:
Maybe. How many memory slots do you have open? What model personal or motherboard do you’ve? Does your motherboard grant you to add 1 chip at a time, or do they have to be added in pairs?
BTW, 2 x 512MB is 1GB, not 2GB. Adding another 512MB will give you 1.5MB.
Memory is pretty cheap these days. You might be superior off getting rid of the 512MB chips and replacing them with 1GB chips, as this could be cheaper, depending on sale prices.
Crucial Memory has a system checker to see what type of memory you can purchase. It's at the link below.
Answer:
Probably, but it depends on the brand/model of the personal or the brand/model of the motherboard more precisely. All motherboards have an upper memory limit. Depending on the age, 1 GB, 2GB, 4GB and 8GB are typical limits right now. The limit generally increases with the newness of the board.
Is this a laptop or desktop? How many memory slots are on the motherboard? 2, 3 or 4? If you’ve 2×512 MB right now, you only have 1GB of RAM. Adding one more 512MB memory module would only take that to 1.5 GB. Adding two 512MB memory modules would take it to 2GB.
For some memory architectures, you would want to add memory in pairs in order to take advantage of dual-channel mode. That’s, if the modules are paired (as in the 2×512MB RAM you’ve now), both modules are read in parallel. Adding a third 512 MB would cause the motherboard to ratchet back to single channel mode since there would no longer be matched pairs. Adding two more 512 MB modules would allow dual channel mode to continue. If your motherboard does dual channel, you really want it to run in dual channel. The performance penalty for single channel mode is pretty harsh.
If you go to http://www.crucial.com/ , you can use either the scanner (which scans the system you’re on and figures out what kind of memory you need - but doesn't always work) or the Crucial Memory Advisor tool (where you choose your system from pulldown menus) to determine the type and maximum amount of memory your system can handle.

You might try the following:
1. Go to this website from Crucial:

2. Click on the blu button “Scan My System” and proceed with that.
This may give you some advices on possible memory upgrade.
Answer:
2×512 only makes it 1 gig of memory, not 2 gigs. I would check your motherboard book and see how much memory it hold. But, yeah 512 will make memory.

Try this link, it's for crucial.com it will search your PC/Laptop for whats already installed and then advise what you can install ie maximum capabilities etc

depends on your motherboard. Check crucial.com for compatibility.
