Hi. I have a new netbook with no CD/ DVD player. I'd like to install Windows WORD 2003 from a legitimate Windows CD i have. Thought i could just copy the CD onto a memory stick, and install on the netbook from there, but no joy.

Netbook uses Windows XP.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Answer:
apart from using an external dvd drive, you could rip the installation cd to iso, then mount the iso on a virtual cd drive and run the installer

you can use imgburn (free) to create an image (iso) from the disc

transfer that to the netbook or mount from the memory stick; you’ll need to install a virtual cd drive on the netbook - this one is free and excellent

if you can live without Word, try Open Office Portable

Answer:
You can try either:

1) install a virtual CD ROM player on your pc (such as Virtual CloneDrive, at www.elby.ch)

2) if you’ve a desktop computer, set up a LAN (either wifi or ethernet), activate the sharing of the desktop CRDOM and access it from the netbook

This deosnt mean that the word will work well on your netbook. You can also try lighter programs.

Answer:
Do you have wireless connection or wired connection that connect to a router? If you have, then make a sharable on the personal which has a CD/DVD ROM and then you could install directly from that personal to your Laptop.

Answer:
You could just go buy an external CD/DVD burner that plugs into a USB port.. they run about $60 bucks here in Canada so it will be cheaper if you live anywhere else.
