i have the Special edition HP pavilion dv6000. The battery charger gets extremely hot, to the point where one can barely touch it. Does anybody know of any type of a coolant or cooler that can be purchased to keep this from running so hot?

I heard of a guy in the UK recently whose charger caused a fire in his flat. This is scaring me a bit!

Answer:
A charger should not get hot to the point that you can barely touch it.i would suspect that the charger is drawing too much electricity.Im thinking that maybe you had to purchase another charger or something and you got one that the watts wasn't rated high enough for your laptop.i would recommend you find your specs on your laptop and see what size watt charger that it takes. The OEM charger is rated for 65 watts,so you need a minimum of that for your laptop,a bigger watt charger wouldn't injured, maybe 95 watt, keep the Output Voltage and the Max Out Amps of the charger the same if you replace the old one.if you need more help email me.

Answer:
dont worry it wont cause a fire. they do get very hot, mine gets real hot only when it is chargeing, then runs cooler when the charge is full.

just try not to cover it with anything and try not to put it on the carpet or insulating materials.

it wont cause a fire or anything like that, HP would do a recall if there was a risk, you could try googleing the part/model number to see if there was a recall issues.

Answer:
The main thing is to keep it off soft surfaces (carpet, upholstery, bed, etc.) and make sure there’s sufficient airflow around it.

I might be tempted to put it on a ceramic tile or a plate — that would insulate whatever was underneath, and would prevent any damage if the PS did melt down.

Answer:
don't worry about that, if the charger or battery would be fired, the hp would recall all the series.

my laptop is also hp pavilion dv1000 and i order a spare battery from http://www.hp-laptop-batteries.net/pavil… last year, than now a very good conditions.
