I’ve headphones plugged into my laptop, and yesterday noticed the sound was only coming from the left one.

I checked the audio control, and everything is fine (sound should be balanced). I also checked the speakers without the headphones plugged in, and sound comes from both of them.

I thought it must be just the headphones, so I bought new ones this day, and the problem is the same!

When you plug the jack into the socket is it fully home? If it is have you tried pulling it out ever so slightly. This sometimes works because the connections inside are slightly out of line. It usually happens if the plug is rammed in and yanked out a few times sorry to say.
