Cookies ……………?
Posted on September 21st, 2008 in Security |
When I set my security in World wide web Options to reject all tracking cookies my BT Yahoo browser will not let me sign in unless I allow them to insert a cookie.
In my Explorer browser I can sign in but sites such as YA and Ebay won’t allow me access.
How can I reject all cookies and still have free access?
Answer:
If you want access to the wonderful www you will have to accept those dam cookies I'm afraid.. but not all are bad unlike the trolls… and you can decide which ones you want to be acquainted with. The only way to have more control is to add the sites you’re happy with in your privacy settings. Once your security has saved your preferable sites; you can then block the rest but you will never be cookie free so you will have to learn which ones are friendly and which ones are foe….:))
Answer:
You cant. Sorry, it just doesnt work both ways. Sites such as YA and Ebay use a cookie to keep you logged in, when you block cookies you’re blocking this ability and the sites cant function. Sorry. If you want, use a browser such as Firefox which has an simple Privacy button which you can hit when you’re done browsing to delete all cookies/history/passwords/logins and such. I also believe Firefox has the capability to let you select which sites to grant cookies for. (If I remember right, since I don’t have access to firefox at work) This might be a superior plan.
Answer:
it's not possible to reject all cookies and still access all sites.
Cookies are typically harmless and store very little information. If you’re, for some reason, worried about cookies, try this.
Allow cookies on your internet options and download CCleaner (simple Google search will find this for you). Run this after using the web to delete your traceable cookies each time.
It seems like a knee-jerk reaction however though as cookies really aren't much of a worry provided you run a spyware cleaner once in a while.
Answer:
I use Firefox browser. I set the options 2 accept regular required cookies. IF U use this browser, U CAN go under tool-options-privacy tab. check accept cookies 4 now. THEN wait a moment while sitting on the pg U want access 2 until cookies appear…. click on show cookies & ALSO the exceptions butt. scroll down 2 find the cookies U need & expand the menu. down @ the bottom of yer cookies pg highlight the cookie address. R-Click that cookie. Choose COPY. NOW over in the exceptions box U can paste the cookie name in2 the window & click Accept. do the same w/ ALL the cookies U regularly use. U NEED ALL Yahoo mail cookies & the search options cookie so yer search settings can B saved.
Plz know that I once hadda run so many restores cuz my pc was ALWAYS crashing. finally I quit using IE cuz it was allowing all sorts of junk in that I was trying 2 block out. ever since I started using firefox, I haven't had many problems. in fact, my pc's been running better & smoother. U CAN selectively set which cookies 2 keep & block out the rest.
Answer:
You can't live without cookies on WWW.Websites like Ebay.Yahoo,Google,etc. store personalised info. about you on ur PC like Language and region preferences, etc.Better use the suggested cookie settings as cookies can’t do any harm as long as ther isn't a third-party Trojan on ur PC.
