Ok, I just need a short and swift answer please. i am NOT computer literate. I just need to know what info someone can get from an e-mail address? Ive heard that they can get ISP info through your e-mail and track all your details? Name, address? etc…Is this true?
Any info appreciated, thanks

Short answer to that’s no they can’t. There was a question similar to yours a few months back about whether you could or not. A couple were going on about how easy it was to do so I put my IP up and basically stated to them, if you think your that clever then find me, and email me my name and home address. No response!
That information is protected in the UK by the Data Protection Act of 1998 and is only obtainable by a High Court Order and a very good reason as to why you want it.
Answer:
By looking at an email header and using a site like http://whatismyipaddress.com it is no problem to find out where your ISP is (unless you know how to hide that information).
As for finding out your personal details there’s no legal way of doing it unless you’re empowered to get that information from the ISP (i.e. police, secret services etc.).
This address will help you look at email headers:

Answer:
It would take some serious hacking, and I doubt you are worth it to a hacker. But, if you do something illegal, the government/police can trace you down with help from your ISP.
