I upgraded to SP3 on my Widows XP Pro. I thought I was doing myself a favour by bringing everything up-to-date, but what a mistake it was.

Now, my World wide web Explorer can't display pages correctly - all I get is the message “Done-but with errors on page”. My “News” panel is blank, and my “Personal Assistant” doesn't show me when I’ve any new mails in my 'in-box'.

My system now runs less than half its previous speed, and my AVG now takes about four hours to do what it used to do in ninety minutes only a week ago!

My hard-disk is full to 57% whereas week ago it was only about 28% full (no new programs or files added). During an AVG scan, most of it now shows as C:/System Restore Information/restore…. plus a long string of digits. Thousands of files all the same type.

Has anyone else encountered problems like these? and what's the answer to the problem?

Asside from a complete 'wipeout' and re-install, is there anything else I have the ability to do to get back my previous performance?

Answer:
Yep,

Hanging problems…Media Player 11 SUCKS!…& IE 7 is absolutely useless. Took SP3 off & it stuffed the personal & had to reload the whole OS.

MICROSOFT are really getting on my TI*S

OMG!

I was just randomly browsing through Yahoo answers, and in another window I’ve open is the setup for XP SP3! Haha.

Didn't think I'd find anything like this…

And I've also read other things like this now…

This has inspired me to stick with SP2!

Congratulations!

Answer:
Try system restore….

yes I've heard a lot of complaints about. I myself have SP3 and I do not regret it it fixed a lot of problems with my pc. When using system restore restore it from the date before you updated.

I’ve not heard from any customers about this problem.

No, no problem. I upgraded mine with the Beta version when it first came out. Went straight on.
